"The 'Red Adair' of project management” - SP, ABN AMRO Bank
The principles of good project management are simple, yet most organisations struggle to deliver them successfully. The result is a poor track record and companies struggling to implement their projects. Things only get worse when the very nature of a project is outside of the norm. We have tools and techniques designed to situations where:
a project becomes “distressed”
a project requires rapid “real time” management such as an M&A change of control.
We will set up the project controls that are reliable, so they will stand up to the “White heat” of an extreme situation.
No two distressed projects are the same, but the all require a cool head and a strong presence. The first 48 hours are critical, the key is knowing which controls are appropriate and get the project aligned.
Hibernia is well versed in dealing with such situations. He has led the recovery of many distressed projects even when others had thought they were past rescue.
Rapid execution
Sometimes a very special project comes along; you will have time to plan and prepare, but no time to execute that plan, and the cost of failure are almost too high to contemplate. An example is the change of control at a banking acquisition or a critical infrastructure. The time available is fixed, usually a week-end. If it goes wrong the company may be in regulatory violation and the reputational impact can be significant.
Planning for such an event is a specialised skill, as is running the event itself. It takes special skills, but also special tools, to manage thousands of tasks, track and report them in a short period.
We have been involved in providing the project management for some of the
largest banking acquisitions ever. To support these we have developed a special
real time project tracking tool called “Houston”. Houston integrates
with Microsoft Project to provide an integrated real-time tracking and reporting
on the progress of your acquisition or other rapid execution project.
